Ground will officially be broken for Wild Rose Jefferson with a ceremonial turn of the spade Thursday, July 10, at 1 pm at the casino site on the northwest corner of Highways 30 and 4.
The event will be the first benchmark since the company and Grow Greene County Gaming Corp received the necessary gaming licenses from the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission June 12. In addition to company leader, local officials and the media, Wild Rose Jefferson and Grow Greene County Gaming Corp have invited members of the Racing and Gaming Commission, and Rep Chip Baltimore has agreed to speak. The Town and Country Band will provide music before and after the ceremony.
“The official groundbreaking is a fitting tribute to kick off what we expect to be a 13-month construction process,” said Tom Timmons, president and chief operating officer of Wild Rose Jefferson. “We continue to be honored by the work and efforts of the people of Greene County, and we’re excited to see this project moving forward.”
Wild Rose Jefferson is expected to open in late summer 2015. The Greene County project is anticipated to add 275 jobs and payroll and benefits of $7 million annually to the local economy. In addition, Carroll, Guthrie, Dallas, Boone and Calhoun Counties will all receive a portion of the charitable funds from the Greene County casino.
